High voltage isolation
We need an 8 layer board of FR$ material.
1.What is the dialectric strength between adjacant layers?
2.What is the maximum voltage for electric testing?
3.Can you offer a custom material such as Kapton, and
what effect does it have on price?

Hi Eytan,
Thanks for your question.
It would not be easy to answer this question without some more details, but we will help you as best we can.
First of all if you were directed here from the
PCB-POOL(R) homepage, then you may be aware that 8 layer PCB`s are not available in the prototype service.
Determining the dielectric strength between layers depends on the thickness of the prepreg,
(resin coated glass cloth, used as both an insulator and adhesive)and the manufacturer of this material.
You have two options here, you may request a standard layer build from the manufacturer and calculate your design around his specs, or you may request a particular build.
Again the maximum voltage used for testing the PCB`s varies due to the diverse number of e-testing machines available, whether they be the flying probe type or bed of nails style. We believe the average to be around 250V for the Isolation test.
Yes we can offer whatever material you desire. Our PCB-POOL(R) prototype service offers FR4 1.6mm 35?m copper, but we use our various worldwide contacts to manufacture all other specifications for us and our customers. Kapton material in particular would drive the price to a relatively high level. It is approximately 4 times the price of FR4.
We recommend that you send us your requirements and we can give you more information in relation to the particular performance you desire from your PCB.
We thank you again, and we are looking forward to being of assistance in the near future.
All the Best
